'Landmark' for community in Ramsey

Ramsey's new junior school, Scoill Ree Gorree, was officially opened by Chief Minister Tony Brown this afternoon.

The ultra-modern ?7.2 million building is kitted out with the latest hi-tech teaching aids and is in stark contrast with the the 100 year-old Albert Road school it replaces.

Mr Brown unveiled a plaque at a ceremony in the school hall, in front of the Lord Bishop, the Education Minister, VIPs, governors, teachers and all the children.

Head teacher Mike Faragher says the opening of a new school is a major landmark for the whole community (play attached audio file):
