Northern Athletic produced a spirited showing but were unable to prevent Castletown from staying top of CFS Division Two on Saturday.

The visitors battled hard as they went down 2-0 – first half goals from Jack Charmer and Michael Edge ensuring Town remain one point clear of Marown.

They thrashed Douglas and District 7-1 at Crosby, led by a hat-trick from Kenny Maggee and goals from Jeremy Lovett (two), Ricky Lovett and James Sharpe.

St John’s maintained their unbeaten record to stay third with games in hand with a victory by the same scoreline at home to Onchan, who finished the match with nine men.

Nick Leung, Mike Peace, Mark Wolfenden and Niall Quayle were among their goals with Phil Cain replying for Onchan.

Mark Grotty was the star as Ramsey Youth Centre’s fine season continued with a 9-2 romp at bottom club Ronaldsway.

He hit six, ably assisted by Martin Murphy (two) and Matthew Boyde, as Youth Centre consolidated fifth place.

Improving Malew moved up to sixth with a 6-2 win at Foxdale.

A Paul Witley hat-trick, plus goals from Craig Marsh, Louie Jennings and Mike Oates, secured maximum points.

Aaron Costain and Ciaran Mahoney found the net for Foxdale.

A Darren Loader hat-trick inspired the Police to a 4-3 victory over Douglas Royal in an exciting contest at Groves Road.

Adam Hartford was the other scorer for the home side.
