A new joint operation between prison staff and police officers is being launched over the next 12 months.
Operation Design is aimed at preventing drugs and other illegal items being smuggled to inmates at the jail.
High visibility patrols will stop and search vehicles heading to the jail for visits and anyone suspected of concealing drugs will be searched.
Operation Design will also see information leaflets about the dangers of drug taking and the consequences of smuggling, handed out to the public.
