Escaped prisoner could be in IoM

by isleofman.com 26th November 2008
Members of the public in the Island are being asked to look out for a prisoner who's absconded from Manchester City Centre.

Stephen Vincent Edwards, 44, was on an escorted visit from a prison in Cheshire when he escaped almost a fortnight ago.

Edwards was given a ten year sentence in 2001 for attempted murder.

Police on the Island say that whilst there is nothing to suggest that Edwards is in the Island, or has any Manx connections, Manchester police have widened their search for him.

Officers say whilst Edwards was being considered for parole he should not be approached.

Anyone with information should contact Manchester police on 0161 872 5050, Douglas Police Headquarters on 631212 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
