New fund for struggling depositors

by isleofman.com 27th November 2008
Depositers who are struggling because of lost savings in Kaputhing Singer and Friedlander could be helped out by a new fund.

Tynwald will consider the details of emergency financial support next month.

News of the fund was revealed in Court today (Thursday), where it was decided a decision about the bank's future wouldn't be made until the New Year.

Deputy Deemster Andrew Corlett heard negotiations between Isle of Man and United Kingdom authorities were ongoing, so it would have been premature to reach a conclusion about winding up the company today.

He agreed to postpone proceedings for 60 days until the end of January.
