Manx consumers are going to have to be on their guard next week.
With a reduction of the VAT rate set to be introduced on Monday, the Office of Fair Trading is warning that businesses aren't obliged to pass on the saving.
The United Kingdom Chancellor announced a cut to 15 per cent earlier this week, in a bid to encourage spending.
But OFT Chief Officer Nick Black says the law in the Isle of Man doesn't require companies to cut their prices accordingly.
He says it's up to customers to check the prices and ask if there are any concerns.
