A police man hunt is under way after an officer was seriously injured by a driver who apparently drove into him deliberately.
The male officer stopped to speak to a man in his car at just after 3.30 this morning, in Mona Drive, Douglas.
Before he had finished, the man drove off and ran into the constable.
Police say the officer was carried along on the vehicle, before being thrown into the road.
The officer, who belongs to the Douglas Neighbourhood Policing Team, is being treated in hospital for serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.
Detectives say the car was driven off in the direction of Palace Road and are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
Thomas Hudson, who lives in the nearly Empress Apartments, says a detailed forensic search of the street has been carried out (play attached audio file):
Anybody with information is asked to ring Police Headquarters on 631212, or the anonymous Crimestoppers line, on 0800 555 111.
