Police have named the officer struck by a vehicle in Mona Drive in Douglas in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Forty-one year-old Constable Andy Morgan (pictured), a member of the Douglas neighbourhood
policing team, has now been released from Noble's Hospital and is convalescing at home after sustaining a broken collarbone and serious lacerations and abrasions.

It's thought Constable Morgan, who is married with two children, may have been knocked down deliberately.

Police are making further appeals for information about the incident and the driver of the vehicle is described as a white man, about 30, with shot cropped hair which came to a peak at the front.

On Saturday, a 23 year-old man from Douglas and a 44 year-old man, also from the capital, were arrested but both men have since been released on bail.
