Minister questioned on Packet fuel loss

It's still unclear whether the Steam Packet will look to fully recoup the ?3 million it lost this year because of rising fuel prices.

During Keys questions today Transport Minister David Anderson (pictured) confirmed the company had only clawed back around a quarter of the increase via the fuel surcharge, figures originally quoted by Packet CEO Mark Woodward a fortnight ago.

When asked if the DoT would allow the firm to make up the amount by imposing future surcharges, Mr Anderson offered this response (play attached audio file):
