The chairman of Patrick Commissioners is looking forward to the benefits of having a government department in the west of the Island.
Roger Banks-Jones was at the official sod-cutting ceremony to mark the start of work on the new Department of Agriculture headquarters in St John's.
The building will bring together the department's six divisions and 70 staff, who are currently based at a number of locations, Island-wide.
It's expected to be completed by April 2010 and will cost in the region of ?5.2 million.
