Working together to improve Douglas town centre and upgrade the promenade – as well as the renaissance of the North Quay - were key themes of the speech made by Mayor of Douglas, Dot Pitts, at the annual mayor’s business lunch at Douglas town hall.
Mrs Pitts said one of the projects in which working together would be crucial was the town centre regeneration scheme, adding: ‘I am confident that in a few years’ time Douglas town centre will be a showpiece and an attraction for visitors in its own right.’
The Mayor also cited the example of the transformation of the North Quay as a model of partnership working.
Mrs Pitts added the current challenging economic climate provided an opportunity to take stock and plan future capital schemes that once the economy recovered, could be implemented to create a Douglas offering ‘a vibrant and pleasant environment for visitors and residents.’
