Fire victim was 'a male' - police

by isleofman.com 11th December 2008
Five days after a fatal fire in an apartment in Port Erin, the cause of the blaze still isn't known, and police are making it clear they have some way to go before identifying the victim.

The latest update from the investigation says a post mortem has taken place and officially confirms for the first time that the person who died was a male.

A local newspaper has printed the name of the dead man who, it says, has been "identified locally".

However, police say no formal identification can be made until further forensic results have been received, which may take some time.

A full forensic examination of the scene of the fire has been carried out and the results are awaited.

Police are still appealing for information from anybody who knows anything about what happened.
