"Where there is life, there is hope."
That's the message from the head of the Anglican Church in the Isle of Man, in relation to the issue of euthanasia.
Bishop Robert is responding to comments from a member of the Isle of Man's Freethinkers, who believes the subject should be reviewed from time to time.
The Bishop (pictured) accepts there are times when serious illness can make sufferers and their families struggle with everyday life, but has has serious concerns about legalising assisted suicide.
He told Manx Radio:
"Those who have sent emails at eleven o'clock at night know what it's like to push the 'sent' button and then, in the morning, to look at the email and say 'oh, what did I say that for?'
"Can you imagine what it must be like to push that button that says 'deliver my lethal dose of injection?'
"What you are actually saying is that 'at this point there is nothing I can do to change it - it's absolutely inevitable, I'm totally in control of my life.'
"I think that's wrong."
