Licence fee under scrutiny

The TV licence fee will come under scrutiny in Tynwald next week when Chief Minister Tony Brown will face questions on the subject.

Onchan MHK and Liberal Vannin Party leader Peter Karran will ask him what powers the government has to withdraw from the agreement with the UK over licences.

Mr Karran says the question isn’t a criticism of the BBC’s coverage of the Isle of Man, but is an examination of how servile the Island is to the UK.

He says following the UK’s withdrawal from the reciprocal healthcare agreement, and the recently-announced review of Crown Dependencies, we should be looking carefully at all agreements with the British government (audio file attached):
