Woolies' Island store not one of first to go

by isleofman.com 19th December 2008
The Woolworths store in the Isle of Man won't be one of the first 200 due to go on December 27th.

The other possible dates for closure are December 30th, January 2nd or January 5th although it remains unclear when the Strand Street branch will shut its doors for the final time.

Administrators Deloitte says negotiations for the sale of the Woolworths retail business as a going concern continue, but have not yet resulted in a buyer being found.

It says over 300 of the stores are under offer from a range of third parties, and there is considerable interest in the other 500.

There's also interest in and offers for the Woolworths brand name, and the Ladybird and Chad Valley brands.
