Zimbabwe companies blacklisted by US

by isleofman.com 23rd December 2008
Two Manx companies are on a blacklist drawn up by President George W Bush because of their involvement in Zimbabwe.

Both are based in Douglas and are part of a list of 21 firms around the world accused of financially supporting Robert Mugabe's regime.

Also on the blacklist are 14 firms based in Britain, one in Jersey and one in the British Virgin Islands.

The two Breco group companies are owned or controlled by a man called John Bredenkamp, "a close ally of Mugabe’s", according to the US Treasury.
