Minister's sympathy for hotel staff

Playing to our strengths is how the tourism minister forecasts the way ahead for the industry in the Island.

Martyn Quayle was speaking after it was announced the Chesterhouse Hotel will close for three months at the end of the week.

A 'clear decline in visitor numbers' is behind the decision, with a number of redundancies expected, although it will reopen in April, and trade until the end of October.

Mr Quayle (pictured) says the news is disappointing, and immediate thoughts are with the staff affected:
