Island-wide broadband boost

by isleofman.com 16th January 2009
There's good news for Manx Telecom broadband customers trying to get the best out of the internet.

MT has completed a major upgrade to the Island’s telecommunications network.

It effectively means the company’s 21,000 broadband users will now be able to take advantage of download speeds of up to eight megabits per second.

The upgrade’s part of Manx Telecom’s ?25 million Next Generation Network project - that will ultimately enable personal and business customers to access and manipulate voice calls, data, television and video, on one seamless ‘converged’ network.

Manx Telecom stressed the actual speed an individual customer may get will get depend on a number of factors, such as how near they are to an exchange, the wiring in their house and the equipment they have.
