Manx sheep chosen for grazing scheme

Loaghtan sheep are going to be exported from the Isle of Man to the Channel Islands, to help keep the countryside there under control.

The Manx breed can thrive on poorer vegetation and harsh weather conditions and the National Trust for Jersey is importing the animals as part of a grazing scheme.

Isle of Man Loaghtan sheep farmer George Steriopulos says it's hoped they can restore the grasslands on Jersey's north coast (play attached audio file):
