Software lawyers row

by isleofman.com 5th February 2009
A Manx technology company is one of three firms suing their former lawyers in a row over alleged overbilling and underrepresentation.

Amphion Innovations, which is based in Athol Street in Douglas, along with US companies Datatern and Firestar Software, claim Foley & Lardner of Texas failed them during a case two years ago.

The patent lawsuit against the giant Linux software producer Red Hat ended in a settlement – but the trio claim Foley & Lardner "failed to fully and adequately represent the plaintiffs' interests, failed to complete certain tasks while over-billing for other tasks that were unnecessary, and otherwise failed to adequately prosecute the plaintiffs' claims."

According to Datatern, it suffered more than $1 million in economic harm as a result.

The case will be heard in America later this year.
