Bank of Ireland closes Guernsey branch

by isleofman.com 17th February 2009
It's bad news for the Channel Islands, but possible good news for the Isle of Man, as the Bank of Ireland has announced it's to close its Guernsey branch.

The branch in St Peter Port will close for the last time on Wednesday, March 11 after trading in Guernsey for over 16 years.

The decision could bring some cheer to the Isle of Man's job market.

There has been no announcement about redundancies in Guernsey, but the company says it will consolidate operations over here.

The Bank of Ireland’s Manx branch is at the bottom of Christian Road in Douglas and jobs could be created there as accounts are moved from Guernsey.
