Barclays Wealth has announced the appointment of Greg Ellison as the Managing Director of Barclays Private Clients International Limited (BPCI). Greg will oversee Barclays Wealth’s personal and corporate businesses in the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey, as well as significant operations teams in the Isle of Man.
Greg, 34, joined Barclays Wealth in 2006 and has been on the Board of Directors of BPCI for two years, moving to the Isle of Man in 2007. With experience in retail banking, regulated wealth management and operations, Greg is relishing his new role with the Company.
Greg said ‘I look forward to the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead. We are operating in unprecedented global economic conditions and in order to succeed, it’s important to ensure that the core of our business is functioning effectively. We need to maintain a firm grip on our costs, be innovative in our product design and more than ever, keep close to our clients.
'Whilst it’s vital that we manage our costs closely, it’s important that we also recognise the essential areas of the business that require investment. Barclays Wealth continues to hire for key roles to strengthen the Barclays team across the islands.'
Greg is also planning to pave the way for Barclays Wealth to become more involved in a range of community initiatives: ‘It is vital that we have a greater presence in our local communities. As the largest private sector employer on the Isle of Man, we have much more to give than just financial support. I am delighted that we continue to support local projects and charities such as the Junior Achievement programme.'
Greg and his wife Julie have two young children, Lily and Ben, and live in Douglas. He is a keen runner who completed the Paris marathon in under four hours last year in aid of the Isle of Man Children’s Centre, and is set to run two further half marathons this year.
