Fairbairn staff and youngsters clean beach

by isleofman.com 4th April 2009

Staff at Fairbairn Private Bank have done their bit to help clean up the environment, by taking part in a beach clean at the Ayres nature reserve.

They teamed up with volunteers from the Manx Wildlife Trust, focusing their efforts on plastic items, which can take over 1,000 years to degrade.

The volunteers, helped by a selection of children and dogs, dug deep and managed to fill a pick-up truck with plastic rubbish from the shore.

Fairbairn spokesperson Janet Taylor said: "We have sponsored the Manx Wildlife Trust for many years and felt this initiative was really worthwhile, especially when there is so much wildlife being put at risk from litter.

"Helping out the wardens and learning about the nature reserve was very educational and I would recommend anyone to give it a go."
