The 2009 Bra Dash is coming up, and to get everyone in the mood, staff from Manx Telecom have braved Strand Street to offer a few fancy dress tips for the annual charity event.
The phone operator has agreed to donate four pink J700 Samsung mobile telephones which will be awarded to the Best Dressed Dasher at each of four locations on the Island staging a Bra Dash.
Bank of Scotland has also lent support, pledging ?100 cash for the Best Dressed Team with a minimum of four people, and a toyshop voucher for the Best Dressed Child.
This is the fifth year that the sponsored event has been held on the Isle of Man in support of the Breakthrough Breast Cancer Charity and it continues to grow in popularity. Last year, hundreds of dashers took part raising a record ?20,000.
'It would be wonderful if we could exceed that amount this year,' said event organiser and Charity Chairman Angie Aire. 'We are grateful to Manx Telecom for giving so generously and entering into the spirit of the event. The aim is for everyone to have a fun time taking part but also to raise awareness of breast cancer, which affects so many people either directly or indirectly.'
Bra Dash 2009 takes place on three separate days. Firstly, on Friday April 24th, at 12.30pm from The Square in Castletown and in Douglas, at 1.15pm at the entrance to the Marks & Spencer car park. Secondly, on Saturday April 25th, the event will set off from Shoprite in Ramsey and finally, on Saturday May 2nd, from the Market Place in Peel.
Sponsorship forms are available from www.bradash.com or by contacting Angie Aire on 498864. Dashers can enter as many times as they like and taking part couldn’t be easier: no entry forms are required, simply turn up on the day, suitably attired for a quick dash!
