Can the Island resist financial upheaval?

by isleofman.com 27th April 2009

Treasury Minister Allan Bell has given his view on how the Manx economy could resist world financial upheaval - to the man charged with examining the Crown Dependencies.

Mr Bell and Chief Minister Tony Brown have returned from a meeting in London with Michael Foot - sent by the UK government to investigate the offshores in the wake of the Icelandic banking collapse.

Mr Foot was here two weeks ago to speak to Treasury officials and key figures in the Island's financial services sector.

The two ministers have now given their evidence.

Mr Bell says the Foot Review is focusing on how well the Isle of Man and other Crown Dependencies would weather another financial crisis.
