by isleofman.com 14th May 2009

Paula Coates has joined the board of the Association of Corporate Service Providers.

She is an associate director with Abacus Trust Company, with responsibility for advising on the establishment and administration of offshore structures, including the provision of in house tax advice, in conjunction with the development of business, and travels globally within this role.

As well as having held positions with two of the Island's leading accountancy firms, Paula is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and a member of both the Institute of Taxation (CTA) and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners(STEP), holding the Society’s Diploma for England and Wales and the Diploma in International Trust Management.

Paula said ‘I am pleased to be joining the ACSP as I believe that given the challenges to the offshore fiduciary business in today’s climate, it is more important than ever to become actively involved with prominent industry issues and support the Isle of Man as a leading international financial centre'.

ACSP chairman Philip Dearden said ‘I am pleased to welcome Paula to the board. Her expertise in international and local taxation issues will add to the wealth of knowledge and skills within the Association, a professional organisation which, over the past ten years, has come to be recognised as the respected voice of the corporate service provider industry in the Isle of Man'.
