PDMS, one of the Island's foremost software providers, has had two of its public sector clients’projects - a pan-government car leasing portal and the Police National Database - shortlisted for the 'Best Shared Services' category for the Government Computing Awards 2009.
Chris Gledhill, Managing Director of PDMS, said 'It is a privilege to have our work recognised in such a prestigious awards programme. Having two of our clients’ projects make the short-list is testimony to the excellence and hard work of our team'.
The annual Government Computing awards have been highlighting outstanding contributions to the UK public sector IT since 1996. According to the awards' website, the category of 'Shared Services' recognises projects that have shown clear benefits through the shared application of processes and technology.
PDMS created the pan-government car leasing portal for the NHS Purchasing & Supply Agency (NHS PASA). It is a major advance in car leasing for the UK government allowing staff who have responsibility for fleets to search for cars and compare suppliers.
The Police National Statistics Database, managed by the Police National Legal Database team, makes crucial information, such as crime and user satisfaction data, easily accessible to all the police forces in England and Wales. The database has helped to deliver significant efficiency gains for police forces and helped improve decision-making.
Both projects are based on Foundations, PDMS's own net-based software development framework, which allows high performance applications to be customised to meet specific needs faster, better and more cost effectively than bespoke or off-the-shelf solutions.
The Government Computing Awards winners will be announced at a gala ceremony held at Somerset House, London, on Wednesday 20th May 2009.
