Derek Lyons of Royal London 360 has won the 2009 Glyn Gilbert Award. The award issued by the Isle of Man Insurance and Financial Services Institute and presented to a member of the Institute who has achieved outstanding academic success.

Mr Lyons, who completed his Advanced Diploma in Insurance (ACII) qualification during 2008, was given his award during a presentation held at Royal London 360 on the 19th May. 

Of the 340 IOM Insurance and Financial Services Institute members, only 52 have so far achieved the Advanced Diploma qualification. 

The award was named as such in memory of Glyn Gilbert, a past president of the IOM Insurance Institute.
