Positive outlook from new shopping centre manager

The retail sector in the Isle of Man is still doing well, despite the global economic downturn.

That's the belief of the new manager of the Strand Shopping Centre, John Shakespeare, who says Island branches of national chains regularly outperform those across the water.

He took over on Friday and says plans are in place to give the Strand a makeover ahead of its 20th anniversary in February next year.

And he says the empty units shouldn't be for much longer:
