The site of a recently demolished building in Ramsey town centre is to be transformed into a temporary public amenity.
Fistral Property (Investments) Limited, developers of the site of the former Cusha building on the corner of East Street and Parliament Street, began work last week to grass the area and create paths and seating.
The grass is expected to be laid by the start of TT race week but public access will be limited at first to allow the grass to become established, after which Ramsey Commissioners will maintain the area until such time as the site’s development proposals are progressed.
Chairman of Ramsey Commissioners, Sylvia Beattie said: ‘On behalf of the Commissioners, I’d like to extend my thanks to the developers for providing this attractive community facility, which shows true civic responsibility and a public-spirited approach to managing such a highly visible area of land in the town centre.
‘This is a welcome demonstration of public/private partnership working at its most practical.’
