Ring tone signals savings for MT customers

by isleofman.com 9th June 2009

Manx Telecom’s to introduce a new ring tone to let its customers know when they are calling another mobile on the Manx Telecom network.

The move follows the announcement of Mobile Number Portability (MNP), scheduled for June 29, which allows mobile users to switch networks but keep the same number.

‘Before mobile number portability,’ says Mobile Product Manager, Graham Shimmin, ‘it was obvious to mobile users which network the phone they were calling was on but now that’s not possible.

'Many of our customers take advantage of tariffs which offer inclusive unlimited minutes to other Manx Telecom mobiles and we wanted them to be aware when they were calling another Manx Telecom mobile customer, even if the number wasn’t a traditional MT one. This unique ring tone clearly differentiates calls to Manx Telecom mobiles from calls to local landlines and other mobile operators.’

The new ring tone will be introduced on June 22 and can be heard by visiting www.manxtelecom.com/ringtone
