CIOB president visits Island

by isleofman.com 26th June 2009

The president of the Chartered Institute of Building has made a presentation to members of Tynwald.

Keith Pickavance was visiting the Island in the 175th anniversary year of the CIOB at the invitation of ambassador for the institute Keith Dalrymple, principal of Ramsey-based Dalrymple Associates.

Mr Pickavance, together with Mr Dalrymple, also had a private meeting with Chief Minister Tony Brown and met President of Tynwald Noel Cringle, who invited them to witness Tynwald in session from the distinguished visitors' gallery.

Supported by chairman of the Isle of Man CIOB Centre Siamack Rowaichi, Mr Pickavance's presentation to Tynwald members, government representatives and senior figures in the Island's construction industry, stressed the value and importance of effective time management throughout the duration of a construction project.

Proactive time management was vital, said Mr Pickavance, "From the inception of any project; not merely the design and construction phases."

On behalf of the CIOB Mr Pickavance has offered to advise the Isle of Man Government on strategic planning and methodologies to mitigate the effects of the current economic downturn.
