Olympic gold medalist turned wealth management specialist Garry Herbert took the Games’ five interlocking rings symbol as his theme when he was guest speaker at a lunch to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Association of Corporate Service Providers.
More than 140 guests attended the lunch, sponsored by Barclays Wealth, which took place at the Sefton Hotel on 25th June.
Mr Herbert, a member of Goldman Sachs London’s wealth management team and the BBC’s principle rowing commentator, was awarded gold for coxing the Searle brothers to victory in the 1992 Barcelona Games.
Drawing on his Olympic Games’ and other sporting triumphs, Mr Herbert gave a lively and entertaining talk illustrated with inspirational Olympic film footage to demonstrate the power of ‘mind over water’.
He urged his audience to embrace the qualities symbolised by the five ‘rings’ - passion, vision, courage in adversity, pioneering spirit and leadership – as they not only lead to success in sport but also in business.
Formed in 1999, the ACSP is the representative body for the providers of fiduciary and corporate management and administration services in the Isle of Man.
It represents the industry in matters affecting the environment in which members operate, meets with government bodies to voice members’ views, concerns and needs, and organises regular industry-specific seminars and training events.
