Delegates from Isle of Man Post Office attended a prestigious event at Marylebone Cricket Club (Lord’s) in London last week to make a special presentation.
Chairman Alan Crowe MLC; Chief Executive Bill Chacksfield; Philatelic Bureau’s Sales and Marketing Manager Maxine Cannon; and PR and Communications Manager Lucy Webster-Thompson attended the Arts & Library Summer Party in the Museum and Coronation Garden at Lord’s.
The event’s 200 guests included former English international cricketer Derek Underwood, Surrey & England cricketer Mark Ramprakash and Sir Tim Rice.
During the event Alan Crowe presented Chairman of the Arts & Library Committee Alastair Lack with a framed set of Isle of Man Post Office’s new stamp issue ‘Cricket-The Ashes Series 2009.’
The frame will become part of the Museum at Lord’s which is home to a number of fascinating cricket memorabilia and is currently showing the famous Ashes urn and an exhibition to mark this year’s test cricket series in England and Wales.
Alan Crowe said 'Attending this prestigious event was an honour for Isle of Man Post Office and I was delighted to present Alastair Lack with a framed set of our stamps, which were very well received by him and the guests.
'Cricket is a sport which stems back to first being played in Southern England in the 16th Century and we were pleased to mark the sport, particularly the 2009 Ashes series, at the famous venue that is often described as ‘The Home of Cricket’.
It’s also a great bonus for us to have our stamps housed in the oldest sporting museum in the world.'
