Two local charities are to receive ?4,250 each, thanks to the Medis It’s a Knockout Challenge, held recently at Noble's Park in Douglas.

It raised over ?8,500 which will be split equally between the Isle of Man Children’s Centre, and Wish Upon a Dream.

The event, organised and sponsored by Medis, the Island’s largest pharmaceutical company, is based on the famous BBC It’s a Knockout programme which dominated the summer TV schedules in the 1970s and 1980s.

Teams from over 30 organisations in the private, public, and voluntary sectors, took part in a mixture of games and challenges.

They were watched by a large crowd of enthusiastic supporters who also enjoyed the many attractions on offer, which included a whole host of sideshows and stalls selling food and drink. The winning team was, Itex Isle of Man Ltd.

Managing Director of Medis Stuart Colligon said: "This is the fourth year we have held the Medis It’s a Knockout Challenge and, in total, we have raised ?32,000 for local Manx charities over that time. Each year, the event gathers momentum and I would like to thank everyone who took part, and those who came along to watch. We look forward to a bigger and even more successful event next year".
