MAC 'Lifeline' in Charity's Landmark Year

by isleofman.com 25th August 2009

This year has seen some of the most ambitious outdoor adventure challenges to take place on the Isle of Man, made possible by sterling back-up from one of the Island most prominent companies.

Events such as this summer’s Race the Sun, where teams covered the full length of the Raad Ny Foillan between sunrise and sunset, and the daunting Sea to Summit, which entailed conquering each of the Island’s 1000 feet plus peaks in under 24 hours, have proved highly popular fundraising activities for leading charity organisation, the Isle of Man Children’s Centre.

Their success has been underpinned to a great degree by the ongoing backing of corporate independent financial advisers, MAC Financial, who have literally provided a lifeline for those taking part.

The Athol Street-based company, which this year celebrates its Fifth Anniversary, has provided the IOMCC with a total of 250 water bottles and 10 cool boxes: vital supplies for a hectic season of outdoor endurance competition.

The sponsorship has extended to events such as Golf Day, Race the Sun and Sea to Summit which, to date, have raised over ?10,000 for the IOMCC.

MAC Financial plan to continue their support for the IOMCC throughout the remainder of 2009 and into 2010, Director Nigel Gregg confirmed.

“Each of our 14 members of staff firmly believes in supporting the IOMCC in their endeavours.

"It’s our chosen charity because it very much fits in with our strong commitment to social responsibility,” said Mr Gregg.

"We want MAC Financial’s community involvement to be youth-focused and where better to show this support than in making this commitment to the Isle of Man Children’s Centre?

"Although we are a commercial operation, we see a synergy between what we do – in particular providing family protection products - and the work of The Children’s Centre, whose mission is to bring positive development for children across the Isle of Man,” he added.

Rebecca McCauley, the IOMCC’s Development Manager said the charity owed a debt of gratitude to MAC Financial.

“Their sponsorship throughout the year has played a significant part in making so many of our fund raising events the success that they have and we look forward to MAC Financial’s continued support.”
