Professional Achievement at Dalrymple Associates

by isleofman.com 8th September 2009

Dalrymple Associates’ Teresa Kinrade has been awarded full professional membership of the Association for Project Management(APM), the largest independent professional body of its kind in Europe.

Mrs Kinrade, who was mentored by the company’s principal, Keith Dalrymple, has earned the qualification following a work-based dissertation that majored on her role between 2001 and 2008 as assistant project manager for the new Isle of Man Prison, a project brought in by Dalrymples on time and within budget.

She is currently managing the procurement of furniture and equipment for the new St Ninian’s lower school in Onchan on behalf of the Department of Education, in addition to undertaking a review of the Island’s Construction Waste Strategy for DLGE.

Formerly in the finance sector, Mrs Kinrade has been in the construction industry since 1992 when she joined Taylor Woodrow’s Isle of Man operation, swiftly progressing from administrative to project management duties.

Two and a half years later, she moved to a local architectural practice, spending five years there before joining the multi-disciplinary practice of Dalrymple Associates in 2000.

Mrs Kinrade says, "Construction is an exciting industry and the appeal of project management – which is all about working closely with one’s client to interpret and develop their brief - is that you see tangible results.

"It’s also fair to say that no two days are ever the same and you’re always learning. For example, in my project management role for the St Ninian’s lower school it’s the first time I’ve been involved in the fit-out of a hydrotherapy pool.

"I find working at Dalrymples especially rewarding as it’s a practice that invests in its people to help them develop their career and full potential."

Mrs Kinrade is also a member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology and ISO 9001:2000 Quality Manager for Dalrymples.

She is married with two sons and lives in Andreas.

Keith Dalrymple comments, "Teresa is a very worthy recipient of APM membership.

"She joined the practice to provide secretarial and administrative support but from the outset demonstrated a desire and willingness to become involved in the more technical aspects of the business.

"She took every opportunity to take on greater responsibility while never neglecting her initial duties. Her transition from a senior administrative role to becoming a key figure in our project management and internal management team has been seamless.

"Both of Teresa’s professional qualifications have been well earned and it is to her credit that under her direction Dalrymple’s IS0 9001:2000 quality assurance accreditation has recently been renewed for the 16th consecutive year."
