The Isle of Man Yacht Forum, in association with the Isle of Man Ship and Aircraft Registers, hosted its first conference in London on 2nd September.
The private sector initiative presented Isle of Man solutions to industry professionals in the City of London, which is a key market for yacht and aircraft finance, chartering and management.
Over one hundred people were in attendance at the one-day event to hear representatives from the superyacht and aircraft management industry present sessions on a wide range of topics including corporate structuring, ship and aircraft registration, VAT and taxation.
The prestigious event was hosted by Barclay’s Wealth and chaired by Martin Redmayne, Editor of the Yacht Report, the leading industry journal.
The event was also supported and attended by key representatives from the relevant departments of the Isle of Man Government, who took to the stage to highlight the many solutions that the Isle of Man can offers clients within the area of superyacht and aircraft registration and management.
This reinforced the message of the strength of the public and private partnership which exists to make the Isle of Man so successful in these areas.
The Hon David Cretney, MHK, Minister for Trade and Industry commented, “We were very keen to support the event in order to promote the many benefits of doing business with the Isle of Man Ship and Aircraft registers to existing and potential customers in London.
"Furthermore, events like this can only enhance the excellent relationships that my Department enjoys with local companies in the superyacht and aviation sectors.
"Going forward, the opportunity to share ideas and solutions will become increasingly invaluable.”
Dick Welsh, director of Isle of Man Ship Registry, commented, "We were really pleased to be associated with such a well-organised and well-attended event.
"The conference enabled industry specialists to discuss some of the major challenges and opportunities they face and how the Isle of Man, being at the forefront of developments in the industry, can provide Isle of Man solutions and structures to serve the needs of the growing yacht and aircraft industries.”
