August unemployment figures

by isleofman.com 15th September 2009

Unemployment in the Isle of Man has shown a slight rise, according to the latest government figures.

At the end of August, 981 people were looking for work, representing 2.3 per cent of the economically active population.

Last month the number of people without a job increased by 14, and at the end of August the job centre held 242 posts on file.

Detailed statistics from the Treasury show those most likely to be unemployed work in the construction industry, followed by retail and sales, with administrative and clerical staff in third place.
