Douglas-based training and development company TLC Business Solutions has recently been awarded a further contract to provide training to the Department of Health and Social Security (DHSS).
Forming part of the DHSS Integrated Leadership Management Programme, the new course is aimed at senior managers, usually those who report directly to the Senior Management Team.
Dr Jacqueline Yates from the DHSS comments, "We are very pleased to be working with TLC as the facilitators of our Senior Manager level Integrated Leadership and Management programme.
"This programme builds our partnership with TLC to a new level, as they are working with Cheshire and Warrington Business Venture to give us access to a wide range of tutors and speakers from the North West of England.
"These tutors will give our senior managers stimulation and knowledge to go forward into the future and shape our organisation to meet the future health and social care needs of the people of the Isle of Man.
"TLC are a tried and trusted supplier and we are impressed with their professionalism. I am looking forward to a constructive and happy partnership with all concerned."
Four years ago, recognising that professional people often had received little training in the soft skills needed to get the best out of people, the DHSS launched the programme with a course for team leaders and supervisors.
Starting at the foundations of management was an inspired decision, led by Dr Jacqueline Yates and her colleagues in the steering group with the enthusiastic support of the Chief Executive, David Killip.
The next step was to move up a level, developing courses for operational and middle managers – and that’s where TLC came in, winning both contracts with awards endorsed by the Institute of Leadership and Management.
These programmes have been a huge success, with six cohorts of operational managers completing the programme so far, and three for middle managers.
Sue Gee, Managing Director at TLC Business Solutions, comments, "The feedback for TLC has been fantastic and we are very excited to once again have the opportunity to support the DHSS in its efforts to provide the very highest standards of service to the Manx people."
The new contract relates to the fourth and most senior level of managers, and will lead to the Institute of Leadership and Management’s Level 7 (Masters) Certificate in Executive Management.
