Police Urge Caution Over 'Crime' Calendar

by isleofman.com 19th October 2009

The Isle of Man Constabulary have received reports that local businesses have been contacted and offered an opportunity to purchase advertising space in what has been described as being ‘next year’s Isle of Man Constabulary Crime Prevention Calendar’.

Constable Mike Radcliffe, Crime Reduction Officer, states, "I would wish to make it clear to the public that whilst we have previously worked in conjunction with UK based companies to produce crime reduction publications, the Isle of Man Constabulary is not producing a calendar and therefore any company making such an offer is not working on our behalf.

"As with all business transactions, you should not disclose any financial information during a ‘cold call’ telephone conversation and should request full details of any offer in writing prior to agreeing to place an advertisement."

Further advice can be obtained by contacting Police Headquarters on 631212 or from the Office of Fair Trading on 686500’
