Barclays Wealth Advisory Celebrates 50 Years

by isleofman.com 27th October 2009

Barclays Wealth Advisory celebrated 50 years of its trust and company services business in the Isle of Man this month.

One of the largest trust company businesses in the Island, it’s now two years since Barclays Wealth acquired the independent fiduciary services company Walbrook Group Limited and the new business continues to grow.

Barclays Wealth Advisory and Walbrook were both successful individual trust companies in their own right.

The acquisition of Walbrook Group’s strong product and client offering plus a geographical footprint complementary to the existing Barclays Wealth Trustees business offered an ideal fit, momentum and indeed opportunities for everyone involved.

Since May 2007, management and staff have worked together to integrate the companies, relocating to Queen Victoria House, Douglas, where just under 100 employees of Barclays Wealth Advisory now occupy two floors of the building.

Alan Patrick, Managing Director for Barclays Private Bank & Trust (Isle of Man) Limited, said, "The strength of both businesses has been deeply rooted in providing high quality service to private and corporate clients.

"This level of service continued throughout the integration of the Barclays and Walbrook trust companies in the Isle of Man.

"With the integration now complete, we continue to focus on provision of high quality products and services but now with an even broader range of experience.

"We are proud of the cohesive feel our business has and are grateful to all our management and staff who have worked so hard to make the integration a success and help develop the business as a whole.

"We have an excellent team in the Isle of Man including many staff with over 20 years service which brings a family feel to the business. Staff loyalty has been a major factor in our successful track record of consistent growth over our 50-year history.

Barclays Wealth Advisory in the Isle of Man offers a full range of fiduciary services and, with teams focused on the UK, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Africa, is ideally placed to meet clients’ needs around the world.

Alan continued, "The integration with Walbrook Trustees (Isle of Man) Limited offered outstanding opportunities for our people, our business growth and, most importantly, for our clients, and the fast and fluid momentum of the integration continues to create ongoing avenues for development.

"Offering a winning business model of expert advice in all areas of wealth management, Barclays Wealth Advisory continues to strengthen its position as one of the flagship trust companies in the Isle of Man, benefiting from being a part of the overall Barclays Wealth group globally.

"In 2008, their achievements were recognised when they were winners of the 2008/09 STEP Institutional Trust Company of the Year Award.

"Our growth has led to the continuing need to employ entry level graduates ideally with relevant qualifications, or willing to study, to help our business to further expand.

"The career opportunities within Barclays Wealth Advisory are of the highest quality and offer potential employees the chance to expand their knowledge and experience in a range of different areas of the trust and corporate service provider businesses, both client-facing and working with world-class product experts and advisors in a global business."
