by isleofman.com 28th October 2009

Isle of Man Post Office has announced a very satisfactory 2008/2009 financial year, with a profit of ?2.22m (representing a 12% rise in profits over the previous year).

Chairman of Isle of Man Post Office, Alan Crowe MLC, said, "The results for the last financial year are pleasing and reflect much hard work during the year against an extremely challenging business environment.

"Despite difficult trading conditions, the financial result for the year was very good and reflected the continued success of the Strategic Plan agreed in November 2007 and the efforts of the staff across the whole spectrum of the business."

He added, "I would like to thank all our customers for their continued support. We endeavour to maintain a first rate, competitively priced service across all of our product lines and achieving the highest standards of customer service remains our objective."

Bill Chacksfield, Chief Executive, said, "The Isle of Man Post Office is committed to playing a full role in the Island’s life throughout its ongoing support of the Island’s economy and its support for the Island’s community.

"We will endeavour to find new ways to generate revenues to replace declining traditional letter post.

"Customer service will remain at the centre of our business with a focus on improving the ease by which our services can be accessed."

He continued, "Our staff are just as fundamental to this commitment as they were to our success during the 2008/2009 financial year and as such I take this opportunity to express my thanks for their hard work and commitment."
