Seminar Gives Introduction to Social Media

by isleofman.com 4th November 2009

After the recent success of their 'Introduction to PR' workshops, Strive PR is now holding a seminar on 'Getting to Grips with Social Media'.

The seminar, which takes place on 24th November at the Claremont Hotel in Douglas, will show people, through discussion and case studies, how to use the 'social Internet' to improve sales, marketing and PR initiatives within their organisations.

The full programme of topics is as follows:

Learn:

How the social Internet is changing how humans and organisations communicate and interact;
About the various social networks, tools and platforms;

About blogging and the democratisation of information;
Policies and best practices in social media;

Strategies and tips to get your organisation involved.

Understand:

Where social media fits into your organisation;
What social networks can (and can't) achieve;
The risks and benefits of the social Internet;

The art of online conversation.

Sherrilynne Starkie, Managing Partner of Strive PR, says, "Everyone who comes along will leave with a good grounding in how the social Internet works, the tools of the trade, and some ideas on how to get started".

Strive PR's most recent workshops garnered much positive feedback from attendees, with one, a Fundraising Co-ordinator for a prominent local charity, commenting, "Sherrilynne's methods and delivery of the course were truly unique and fun but most of all, understandable!

"The knowledge I have absorbed over the last two days will remain with me for a very long time and is so very relevant not only to those in my line of work, but to anyone who communicates".

The seminar will take place from 8am until 12pm and costs ?75 per person (plus VAT), which includes refreshments.

Because of the interactive, practical aspects of the workshops, space is limited, so anyone who is interested in attending is advised to book early to avoid disappointment.
