Isle of Man escapes staff cuts

by isleofman.com 17th November 2009

The Isle of Man won't be affected by a large number of job losses, announced by the Lloyds Banking Group.

The company's media office in London confirmed to Manx Radio that 550 offshore positions, due to be cut by the end of next year, will all be in India.

A total of 5,000 jobs are to go, including two and a half thousand permanent posts in the United Kingdom.

The main reason for the job losses is to reduce the duplication of roles following the merger between Lloyds and HBOS last year.
