FSC warns about hotel job scam

by isleofman.com 17th November 2009

If you've received an offer of work at the "Sheraton Hotel Isle of Man UK" recently, it isn't all it's cracked up to be, according to the Financial Supervision Commission.

In fact, it appears to be some sort of advance fee fraud or an attempt at identity theft.

The letter comes from "Mr Andrew Peterson - Human Resources Manager", who asks you for money to process an "Application for United Kingdom Entry Permit/Visa".

The person you apparently need to contact for this is the director of visas and permits, one Dennis Bent.

The FSC says all names, both of companies and people associated with this scam are made up, but the addresses used are those of reputable businesses here on the Island.

If you have received one of these letters the FSC's advice is to not respond to it in any way, but if you have call the Enforcement Division on 689313 or email fsc@gov.im
