New Manager for Junior Achievers

by isleofman.com 3rd December 2009

Cathie Ashurst has been appointed Secondary Programme Manager for Junior Achievement Isle of Man.

Cathy joins the programme after 22 years working in the family business.

Of her new role, she says, "This is a new and very exciting challenge for me, one where I’m drawing on my experience in business and as sail training co-ordinator with the Manx Yachting Association.

"In the two months since I joined, I’ve found it such a rewarding experience to be working with colleagues and volunteers who are all so highly motivated and committed to delivering the JA programmes which have the power to help shape young people’s futures.

"Feedback from teachers is encouraging as they see the JA IOM offering as complementing the curriculum and as secondary programme manager my task is to ensure that these 'hands-on' programmes reach as many young people as possible across the Island, not only those in mainstream education but also those on the margins of education."
