CMI help change face of men's health

by isleofman.com 3rd December 2009

Male colleagues at CMI are helping change the face of men’s health.

The atmosphere bristled with enthusiasm at the company’s Victoria Road, Douglas, headquarters as 18 men demonstrated their support for Movember – the annual month-long celebration of the moustache aimed at highlighting men’s health issues, specifically prostate cancer.

It was Anna-Lena Kelly who succeeded in ‘whiskering’ up interest among her male colleagues, among whom were managing director Dean Waddingham - no stranger to facial hair as he sported a moustache in his youth - and Chris Neil who took the cancer awareness theme to its logical – and pink – conclusion, by dyeing his new beard cerise and in so doing, earned a trophy and a bottle of wine for his efforts.

By the end of Movember, CMI colleagues had raised a whisker more than ?1,200 for The Prostate Cancer Charity.

Now in its third year ‘Movember men’ start the month clean shaven then cultivate their moustaches and beards to act as walking billboards for men’s health issues. To date the campaign has raised more than ?30 million globally to highlight the health issues men face.
