Neovia Marks Anniversary of 'Virtual' Credit Card

by isleofman.com 4th December 2009

International online payments business NEOVIA Financial has announced the first anniversary of the the Net+ Prepaid MasterCard

The Net+ card was the first prepaid MasterCard to be made available to Neteller's e-wallet customers as both a physical prepaid card and a virtual, online-only prepaid card.

Both of these cards have offered Neteller's customers the convenience of instant access to their cash in their e-wallets since the launch in October 2008.

The Net+ card synchronises automatically in real time with the funds in the Neteller customer’s e-wallet, avoiding the need for a separate pre-load transaction of the prepaid card.

The Net+ Prepaid MasterCard, issued by Conister Bank Limited, incorporates chip and PIN technology and allows cardholders to instantly access funds from a Neteller e-wallet account at over 29 million retail point of sale locations and more than 1 million ATMs worldwide.

The virtual version of the card offers a secure way to shop and pay online with one-time usage card numbers.  The Net+ Virtual Card is part of the Neteller Desktop which, in addition, to offering secure and private payment via Net+, enables Neteller e-wallet users to view the balance on their e-wallet account without the need to visit the main Neteller site.

These innovative features have been recognised through a number of awards for the Net+ card in the last 12 months.  It was voted the best new prepaid card at the prestigious Cards & Payments Europe 2009 Awards in June 2009.

NEOVIA was selected in February 2009 by financial technology newswire Finextra to appear in its Innovation Showcase for the Net+ Cards.

Finextra noted that this was the first time an e-wallet has been used as a loading mechanism for both a virtual and physical card. Neteller was also named as the winner of the Best Gaming Prepaid Card at the Prepaid365 Prepaid Card Awards in July 2009.

Net+ cards form a key part of the NEOVIA Payment Suite, which also features the Netbanx international payments gateway and the Neteller e-wallet.  Netbanx allows merchants to accept card and non-card payments through multiple channels including online, contact centres, mail order and via automated phone systems.

Dan Starr, Executive Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Products at NEOVIA, said, "The Net+ card has been an excellent product for our e-wallet customers, giving them the flexibility and convenience to access their funds immediately, while also addressing any concerns they might have had around security and privacy.

"We are continuing to develop the product and hope to bring further innovations to the Net+ card for both merchants and customers in the near future."

Simon Hull, Managing Director at Conister Bank, commenting on the first anniversary said, "The Net+ Prepaid Mastercard has been very successful in its first year, as evidenced by the awards received to date.  At Conister Bank we are committed to adding value as a truly independent BIN sponsor and developing our customers’ propositions within a stable and reliable regulatory environment."
