Ministers try out electric car

by isleofman.com 11th December 2009

Owners of electric vehicles may be very much in the minority in the Isle of Man at present, but steps to cater for many more are already in place.

The Manx Electricity Authority has installed charging stations around the Island, and it's been announced that a new Electric Vehicle, or EV, tariff will be set up soon.

Next week an electric car promoted by Port Erin-based e-Go will be shown to members of Tynwald by self style chief e-go maniac Steve Burrows.

The clean emissions hot hatch will be on display outside the legislative buildings at lunchtime on Wednesday.

Chief Minister Tony Brown and Environment Minister John Shimmin have already test-driven the car.
